Our Mission
It’s simple; we want to make a difference in a child's life. To help children and their families to bare the struggles of caring for a terminally ill child. “The TJ Memorial Fund” is dedicated to helping these children become adults.
How
First, we stop it before it begins. Second, sick children need good health care. This comes with having great nurses in our community. And third, financial help. “The TJ Memorial Fund’s" mission is to provide these things through research, the TJ Myrick Nursing Scholarship, and fundraising.
Our Vision
Is to see every child grow to adulthood. To eradicate children’s terminal diseases. And maybe even more realistic, at least be able to live life in permanent remission through medical treatments and/or medications; therefore sparing the suffering and emotional pain, that sadly in today’s world, way too many families must endear when their child succumbs to these horrific diseases.
Our Core Values
We are guided by five deeply held core values:
INTEGRITY--Implies goodness, virtue, rectitude, and probity.
The TJ Memorial Fund and its volunteers strive to emphasize the goodness in our endeavors. We shall display the qualities of moral excellence and compassion throughout. Always with a strict allegiance to principle, honesty, and justice; conscious of our commitment to do what is right. The TJ Memorial Fund stands on integrity.
COMPASSION--Concern for the suffering and misfortunes of others.
Sympathetic and compassionate mean the same thing: feeling and suffering, usually for another person. One can be sympathetic with a point of view, belief, or way of life; but compassionate implies a stronger and more direct personal feeling for the suffering and misfortune at the individual level: Our own experience with the death of our child has taught us to be compassionate with those who may also face the same experience of losing a child. All of us at The TJ Memorial Fund express true compassion.
RESPECT--Due regard for the feelings of others through attitude or to courteous treatment.
Respect has many meanings, but for us here at the TJ Memorial Fund respect is about treating those in need with concern, and giving then special regard. For all the children and their families and those who work so endlessly to find a cure, our attitude is one of reverence, admiration, and awe. All of those who come in touch with us at the TJ Memorial Fund deserve our utmost respect.
TRUST--Firm belief in someone or something; the state of being responsible for someone or something.
This word denote the feeling that a person or thing will not fail in loyalty, duty, or service. Trust and faith is the greatest degree of conviction the TJ Memorial Fund can display to our clients, recipients, members, and all those we strive to help. We hold steadfast to gain your trust each and every day and with every dollar used because without your trust we cannot achieve our “Vision”.
RESPONSIBILITY--Having obligation and accountability to someone or something.
The TJ Memorial Fund holds not only itself responsible for all its endeavors and actions, but as well as all those who step inside its doors. We have a legal and moral obligation to those involved in our charity to uphold the highest standards of trust, respect, compassion, and integrity. We the stewardship of the TJ Memorial Fund must and will demonstrate the ability to steward; and, be accountable and answerable to all. Responsibility is the cornerstone of our success.
We strive to ensure that these values fill our work and our relationships every day.
